Steps in writing your Written Report
Step 1: Starting the Work
- As you will be working in a group of two you will identify a workplace/organisation to conduct the group’s analysis.This could be your current (or a recent) place of employment.You may have worked at this organisation as either a casual, part-time or full-time employee. You can also use an organisation that is well known to you, but you have not necessarily worked there.
- Identify key issues /HRM practices and compare them to best practices within the industry, (support your arguments with relevant theories).
- IT IS ESSENTIAL that this organisation has an internal HR Manager/Supervisor role and recruit, train and pay its staff.
- You will need to provide a brief description of the context for this organisation, including the type of industry, number of employees, strategic direction. Your lecturer will assist you to select ANY THREE HRM functions/issues relating to HRM from the list below:
- HRM Planning and Strategy;
- Attracting, recruiting and selecting talent for your workplace;
- Appraising performance, providing training and developing employees & managing careers;
- Reward Management;
- EEO and WHS.
- Analyse the HRM issues identified within your organisation based on the HRM function conducted and issues existing there, also support your arguments with relevant theories and concepts and HRM frameworks studied during the course.
- Analyse key HRM frameworks, core concepts, and processes and how they are applied in your organisation and its relevant application in a contemporary Australian workplace setting.
- Evaluate the responsibilities of organizations, management, and employees and compare them to best practices and compliance requirements as per the employment law, government acts and regulations and employer and employee associations
- To do this you will need to compare your organisation’s capability to the relevant theory and practice covered in the course. Then discuss and analyze to what extent each of the chosen function at your organisation meets best practice standards of the industry.
- Using the above discussion, explain what your recommendations for improvement would be to help the organisation achieve its objectives– support this using course theory and content.
- Conclusion – As a group what is your key conclusion from conducting this analysis.
