Organizational development (OD) fosters a collaborative work environment through its planned actions. In my organization, OD has been integral in training and development, which has been paramount in the improvement of staff communication, listening, and problem-solving skills. The other significance of OD is the establishment of clear roles and responsibilities (Ispiryan et al., 2024). In my organization, everyone understands their job and how it connects to others because of the planned action.

Another significance of OD is the facilitation of team-building activities. My organization, because of planned action, engages in simple activities, like group discussions or joint projects, which are crucial in boosting group cohesion.  Furthermore, OD is responsible for improved communication in an organization as the planning process involves regular meetings, suggestion boxes, or other platforms that make it easier for staff to communicate their opinion (Pituksung & Wisankosol, 2023).

Also, OD fosters collaboration by recognizing team efforts, critical in addressing the risk of individualism in workplaces. Based on the above roles of OD in fostering collaboration in an organization, strategies to help create a more collaborative environment by improving how people work together include training and development, team-building activities, open communication channels, recognition, and rewards.

The incorporation of the OD strategies above will enhance teamwork in multiple ways. Firstly, it would encourage better problem-solving to facilitate strategic solutions. Additionally, the benefit of enhancing teamwork and communication is higher productivity as collaboration allows faster completion of tasks with minimal errors (Martono et al., 2020). Besides, teamwork will improve overall staff mood as a collaborative environment reduces stress levels and unhealthy competition. Additionally, Teamwork and Communication help address misunderstandings common in workplaces.

Separately, OD aligns with the Christian worldview of community and stewardship. In the Christian faith, community is important. The Bible in Galatians 6:2 (NKJ version) states, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” The Holy Book instructs that believers should help and support one another, sharing in each other’s struggles and responsibilities, which is the same idea of OD. Furthermore, the Bible in 1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV) states that, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” The verse reminds believers to be keepers of resources, which shares the same idea as OD.
