Specialized Courts Project – Outline/Rough Draft Submission This assignment requires you to submit an outline/rough draft of your final project on specialized courts. This submission allows for instructor feedback and ensures you are on track to successfully complete the project. The outline must be well-organized and easy to follow. The outline should include all major sections of your research paper and PowerPoint presentation. Each section of the outline should be sufficiently detailed to demonstrate your understanding of the topic and your progress on the project. Research Paper Outline: • Include a clear introduction with a thesis statement. • Outline the main points of each section of the paper (e.g., background, history, goals, participants, procedures, effectiveness, challenges). • Include a list of at least 3 credible academic sources you plan to use. PowerPoint Presentation Outline: • List the key slides and their content (e.g., title slide, introduction, types of specialized courts, case studies, advantages/disadvantages, conclusions). • Briefly describe the visual aids you plan to include (e.g., charts, graphs, images). Submission: • Submit your outline/rough draft as a single document (e.g., Word document, PDF). • Clearly label each section (e.g., “Research Paper Outline,” “PowerPoint Presentation Outline”). Grading Criteria: • Clarity and Organization: The outline is well-organized, easy to understand, and demonstrates a clear understanding of the project requirements. • Content: The outline includes all necessary components and demonstrates thorough preliminary research. • Depth of Analysis: The outline reflects a thoughtful and in-depth approach to the topic. • Professionalism: The outline is submitted on time and in the correct format. This project requires students to: Choose one of the following specialized courts: Domestic violence courts Mental health courts(chosen Court for project) Veteran’s courts Reentry courts Community courts Homeless courts Research the history and development of your selected “problem-solving court” Locate a County in Texas that is currently utilizing your selected specialized court and then evaluate their program. (You may need to reach out to someone from the identified county /specialized court to help with this program evaluation portion) Comprise a 3-4-page research paper and a PowerPoint presentation . The paper must be completed in MLA format, in-text citation and a reference page. The reference page does NOT count toward your 3-4 pages. The PowerPoint must include 10-15 slides ( not including the title slide and reference slide).
