  3. Individual Reflective Statement (20%)

Section A: Group Presentation (40%)

 Task Description:

You are required to work in groups (up to 4 members) to deliver a presentation on a specific issue related to sustainability. The presentation will be scheduled for a specific date, which will be announced after group formation, and will take place in front of your peers and tutors. Each team will present their work, and all group members must contribute equally to the presentation.

 

Key Components:

  • Case-Based Problem: The group will identify a sustainability-related challenge faced by an organisation or sector.
  • Data-Driven Approach: The presentation must integrate relevant data, ensuring that the analysis is supported by real-world data sources (e.g., UN SDG indicators, ESG data).
  • Academic Literature: You should reference academic literature to support your analysis and proposed solutions.
  • Business Practices: Incorporate examples of best practices from businesses to illustrate how real-world entities are addressing similar challenges.
  • Individual Solutions: Each group member should present their own individually suggested solutions to the problem, which must be supported by data and business insights.

 

Presentation Format:

  • Duration: 15 minutes (followed by a Q&A session)
  • Slides: Maximum of 12 slides
  • Teamwork: Each team member must contribute to the presentation.

Section B: Group Report (40%)

 

Task Description:

The group report will document the process your team followed to address the sustainability challenge in your presentation. It should cover your approach to teamwork, the data sources used, the methods applied, and the tools you utilised to achieve your findings. The report should also reflect on any challenges faced during the project and how they were overcome.

 

Key Components:

  • Introduction: Briefly introduce the sustainability problem you addressed in the presentation.
  • Teamwork Approach: Explain how tasks were distributed among the group members and how you collaborated.
  • Data and Methods: Describe the data sources and analytical methods used to support your findings.
  • Challenges and Solutions: Reflect on any difficulties encountered during the project and how they were addressed.
  • Conclusion: Summarise the key findings of your project and the lessons learned.

Section C: Individual Reflective Statement (20%)

Each student is required to submit an individual reflective statement (500 words) on their personal development during the group project. The reflection should cover how the project contributed to your understanding of sustainability issues, your ability to work in a team, and your personal growth in data analysis or problem-solving.

 

Key Components:

  • Personal Contributions: Reflect on your role in the group project and how your contributions impacted the outcome.
  • Skills Development: Discuss any new skills or knowledge gained during the project, particularly in data analysis, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Challenges and Growth: Reflect on any personal challenges faced during the project and how you overcame them.
  • Future Application: Explain how you plan to apply what you’ve learned to future projects or your career.
